My career plan
My dream is to become a TV and film makeup artist. I have strong adaptability and good communication skills. In my dream job, the working environment is change every time and I need to adapt to the new environment at any time, such as working outdoors. And I can quickly adapt to the working environment, which helps me to be more comfortable at work.
My learning
In 2021, I got a chance to intern in the special effects makeup team of the film, from which I gained a lot of things that are difficult to learn in school. Fortunately, I was able to participate in the application of pre-work and post-production special effects and how the makeup work should be done during shooting. The theme of this shooting is cyber punk, and special makeup needs to create a sense of impoverished robot. In the preliminary preparations, several sets of prostheses need to be prepared for ten days of shooting. The process is very challenging.
My learning
In these experiences, I have learned a lot of professional makeup skills in the industry, such as the method of inverting the mold in the early stage, the coloring skills in the middle stage, and the skills of helping the actors make up in the later stage. In this internship, I have established the mentality and methods that I should have to deal with emergency situations. I believe this will be of great help to my future work in the industry. In the TV and movie makeup industry, emergencies often occur. For example, the actor’s makeup and hair have problems during long-term shooting, and the actor’s skin condition deteriorates due to prolonged concentration. I can know how to deal with it.
My learning
My goal is to become a TV and film makeup artist. The film and television industry needs to create many different looks according to the needs of the plot, and even apply special effects makeup. In this internship, I learned how to make a prosthesis to match the role. Making a character requires knowing a lot of background stories, and the same is true for special effects makeup. If you don’t know enough, you can’t make a character well. So I learned how to use special effects makeup to make a film and television role in my internship.
My second goal
My second career goal is to become a photographer. When I want to study makeup, photography is my interest. I also think that makeup and photography are also closely related. I am very interested in this industry, so my second career goal is to become a photographer. During my studies, I kept referring to successful photographers in the industry, learning their shooting techniques, and enhancing my beauty, which is very helpful for makeup and photography.
